Rebranding & UI/UX: Redesigning a trustworthy DeFi experience

Introduction

Kai Finance offers innovative yield farming solutions for both passive and active investors, their platform provides secure and transparent access to the best opportunities in decentralized finance. However, their visuals didn’t reflect that. That’s why they came to us, looking not just for a brand refresh, but for a design system that could truly reflect the clarity and credibility they wanted their users to feel.

The Problem

Before we dove into design, we had to review the challenges:

  • There was no cohesive design system in place, resulting in a fragmented user experience.
  • The new product features needed to be introduced in a way that was clear, professional, and trustworthy.
  • The previous logo was AI-generated and lacked scalability
  • The brand should have a distinct personality and visual narrative that matches its name: Kai, which means ‘ocean’ in Japanese.

What We Discovered

After some research and analysis of the challenges, we concluded that

  • Their users need clarity above all, especially when dealing with complex DeFi tools
  • A credible and polished interface was non-negotiable for new users entering their platform.
  • The brand’s name, Kai, had untapped potential. Oceanic metaphors like waves, fluidity, and depth offered rich visual inspiration to shape an identity users could connect with.

What We Did

To bring Kai’s vision to life, we reimagined the brand from the ground up, aligning visual identity, UX strategy, and UI components around a single philosophy: empowering users through clarity and trust.

Inspired by the ocean and its constant motion, the visual language reflects Kai’s core values: transparency, reliability, and innovation, grounding users in an environment that feels both dynamic and secure.

Logo

We redesigned the logo from scratch, replacing the previous version with a brand new scalable symbol. The symbol draws subtle inspiration from waveforms, paired with a clean, modern wordmark.

Low-Fidelity

We reorganized the user journey to make each step, from discovering a vault to managing positions, intuitive and stress-free.

High-Fidelity

The new UI is inspired by the ocean through flowing curves, layered elements, and soft gradients that subtly reinforce the brand’s identity without overwhelming the content. We prioritized clear data visualization, allowing users to easily monitor the performance of their personal vaults. Every component was designed with responsiveness in mind, ensuring an easy experience across all devices. To reinforce trust, we introduced subtle animations and clear visual hierarchies that guide users through the interface while maintaining focus on functionality.

Design System

We documented every UI component, interaction pattern, and layout into a scalable system, enabling Kai’s team to build new features faster and with total consistency.

Redesigning Kai Finance was crafting a unified brand and product experience that truly reflects its mission: making DeFi more accessible, trustworthy, and intuitive for users seeking both simplicity and performance.
